The Problem:

A four story storage silo had settled 0” – 8” making the silo inoperable for three months. The storage silo rested on a 21’ x 18’ foot concrete pad, 30” in thickness, so the slab alone roughly weighed 125,000 pounds. Add the silo on top and you’ve got one heavy load to lift!

The Solution:
  • An array of 5/8” holes were drilled through the slab and our unique high density expanding polymer was injected under the slab
  • The slab was then lifted until it reached a level plane and back to it’s original alignment
  • To mitigate future settlement, soil stabilization probes were drilled to 6’ foot depths and again our expanding polyurethane foam was injected to densify the base soils
The Results:

In total the job took 7 hours from start to finish. Upon completion the silo was totally operational and ready to resume business as usual. The heavy weight of the slab and silo were no problem for URETEK!

The client was impressed by our technology for concrete slab repair and very thankful that they could now use their silo.
